More than a thousand samples of Henricia (Echinodermata, Asteroidea) from the Norwegian Sea and the waters around Iceland and Greenland have been studied and the taxonomy of the species, usually indiscriminately called , has been re-evaluated. The three species described from southern Norway by O.F. Muller, 1776: H. sanguinolenta , H. pertusa and H. perforata, and the species, H. spongiosa described from southern West Greenland by Fabricus, 1780 are recognized and neotypes selected. Recognized also are H. oculata (Pennant, 1777), H. eschricthi (J. Muller & Troschel, 1842), and H. cylindrella (Sladen, 1883). Two new taxa, from bathyal depths around Iceland and southern Greenland, are established: H. hedingi n. sp. and H.lisa ingolfi n. subsp. The recognized species are redescribed and lists of synonyms given.
