The study of a collection of Polychaetous annelids Lumbrineridae, originating from the continental shelf of the Spanish Catalan Coast proved particularly interesting. Other collections from the Mediterranean and the Adriatic continental shelf and abyssal plain were added. The Lumbrineridae fauna of such regions is similar to that of other seas. Two new species and one new subspecies are described : Lumbrineris carpinei sp. nov., Lumbrineris nonatoi sp. nov. and Lumbrineris emandibulata mabiti sp. nov. Other species were found for the first time in the Mediterranean : Lumbrineris acuta and Ninoë armoricana. The author emphasizes the great morphological variability among species and the convergence of certain taxonomic characteristics that make the systematic study of this family extremely difficult. Certain species are re-described and new determining criteria are presented as well as a key for the identification of Mediterranean species.
