Biodiversity and distribution of zooplankton present in the Guayas River during the high tide is a reflection of the marine biological contribution and their relationship fresh and brackish water in the mouth itself. Zooplankton samplings were conducted between March and November 2010, with networks of 300 microns, during high tide. Dominated the crustacean and particularly copepods and cladocerans, mainly represented by species Pseudodiaptomus longispinosus, Acartia sp. and Acartia tonsa in calanoid copepods. Thermocyclops decipiens, Diacyclops sp., Mesocyclops sp., Mesocyclops cf. brasilianus, Mesocyclops paranaensis, Mesocyclops cf. pescei, Mesocyclops cf. pehpeiensis and Mesocyclops thermocyclopoides and the genus Oithona among the copepods cyclopoides. Pseudodiaptomus longispinosus was the most widely distributed species in the dry season (August to November) and Thermocyclops decipiens in the rainy season (March-May). and the genera Moina, Sida, Daphnia and Macrothrix among cladocerans The distribution of the zooplankton showed seasonal variations being the highest values of zooplankton in the rainy months (March to May) and in the last months of the dry season (August to November). The post-larvae and fish larvae were more dominant in the months of rainy season, being Anchoa sp., the most abundant because of its tolerance to low salinities. The largest range of diversity of copepods was observed at the end of the rainy season and cladocerans and fish larvae in the dry season in July and August by the appearance in recent months of new genera and species due to greater influence estuarine waters of the Gulf of Guayaquil.
