The role of the hydromedusae Phialidium sp., Liriope tetraphylla, Eucheilota ventricularis and Aglauropsis kawari in Monascus filiformis (Digenea: Fellodistomidae) larval stages (metacercariae) of transmission in the Argentine-Uruguayan Common Fishing Zone is analyzed. The adult stage in Trachurus lathami (horse mackerel) is described. 1,670 specimens of Phialidium sp., 1,892 of L. tetraphylla and isolated individuals of E. ventricularis and A. kawari were examined. The G and STP tests were employed to determine the possible existence of geographical patterns of distribution; rates of prevalence and intensity are also given. The average prevalence in Phialidium sp. was 29.22% and 13.58% in L. tetraphylla. It was found heterogeneity, apparently due by the Rio de la Plata influence. The significance of hydromedusae in the pelagic fishes feeding is discussed. Descriptors: PHIALIDIUM sp.; LIRIOPE TETRAPHYLLA; EUCHEILOTA VENTRICULARIS; AGLAUROPSIS KAWARI
