The interstitial fauna retained on a 250 µm-mesh sieve from dredge samples taken on coarse subli? oral sediments in depths from 97 to 200 m off São Miguel, Açores, in July 2011, has been analyzed. Over two-hundred specimens of tanaidacean were discovered representing seven species, all of the Suborder Tanaidomorpha. Five of these species, one each in the genera Larsenotanais, Meromonakantha, Pseudotanais and Akanthophoreus, and one in a new genus of the Leptocheliidae, proved to be undescribed species. All these species are described. Aspects of this interstitial assemblage of small species are discussed, and a full list of tanaidaceans recorded from Açorean waters is appended.
