The capitellid polychaete Baldia johnstoni gen. et sp. nov. is described from intertidal sand at Druridge Bay, Northumberland, UK. The new genus is characterised by the possession of 9 thoracic setigers, with no achaetous segment immediately behind the mouth, and by the total absence of capillary chaetae.
