Biology Type of larval development: direct (non planktotrophic) denoted by paucispiral protoconch.  [details]

Diagnosis Shell with a high spire fusiform, adults up to 3.2 × 1.4 mm. Protoconch of 1.25 convex whorls, dome shaped, smooth. Teleoconch of ca. four whorls, slightly convex, separated by an incised suture. Axial sculpture limited to growth lines. Spiral sculpture of flat cords, slightly broader than interspaces, with smooth surface; interspaces bearing two to four raised spiral threads separating spiral rows of minute pits. Abapical area with spiral cords similar in size and shape to those of the periphery. Outer lip slightly opisthocline, hardly thickened externally, smooth inside. Shell colour white.

This species is extremely similar to, if not identical with, Onoba galaica Rolán, 2008, from the shores of Galician rias, but the latter apparently lacks the Manzonia-like microsculpture with distinct lines of pits in the interspaces of cords, and instead has a rough, granulose surface inside the grooves. It differs from Manzonia manzoniana (Rolán, 1987) from the Canary Islands in having a more incised suture, in lacking spirals on the protoconch and in lacking a rim (the "Manzonia keel") on the abapical area of the body whorl which is here evenly curved with subequal spirals.  [details]

Distribution Gorringe seamount, rare in 165-360 m [details]

Type locality Gorringe seamount (36º32'N, 11º37.9'W, 180 m). [details]
