Job description Impaired functioning of the ecosystems in coastal regions
may incur a considerable cost for society since the services
they provide depend on their health. While scientific progress
has been made in modeling and understanding how different
pressures affect coastal systems, the response to changing
pressures of coastal environments and in particular coastal
biodiversity remains a subject of debate and study. This
research proposal aims to study the role of biodiversity in
regulating ecosystem resilience and ecosystem services as a
[function] of changing pressures on the coastal environment.
The scale is regional embracing the entire Mediterranean
region. Scientific tasks include biodiversity data collection and
analysis, GIS mapping, statistical and mathematical modeling
of ecosystem processes, including writing of scientific
