Vacancy Title Associate Director / Principal Scientist
Country of employment United kingdom
Job description Salary £37k - £55k + attractive package of benefits

Location: Scotland

As a result of APEMís continued growth a rare opportunity has arisen for an ambitious individual with a proven consultancy track record to join the senior management team and to head up APEMís operations in Scotland. APEM is Europeís largest specialist aquatic science consultancy, offering our clients an integrated approach to every aspect of the scientific study and management of freshwater and marine habitats. One of the first tasks for the successful candidate will be to set up and develop an APEM office and field laboratory in Scotland Ė at a geographically appropriate and convenient location.

This is a high level position and consultancy experience and business acumen are essential pre-requisites for the role. You should also be an enthusiastic individual who is able to grow and manage a multidisciplinary team of aquatic scientists to run large-scale projects. This will therefore require excellent assessment and report writing skills, coupled with effective man management. You will be primarily office-based, although site visits and client meetings are likely to be required; therefore, a full driving licence is essential. Progress within the role will be limited only by your ambition, and by your ability to deliver.

The acquisition of new business will be an integral part of the role, and the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the business, policy and regulatory environment in which our clients operate, and will have the ability to develop and maintain long term client relationships. It is expected that you will also have an outstanding academic and/or professional record in a related scientific field that complements APEMís already extensive portfolio of scientific disciplines.

Put simply, if you are an ambitious, high calibre scientist who also has the head for business then this could be the role for you.
