Description 2014.04.09 ILVO-wetenschappers kwamen mee aan boord om de staalnamemethodiek met het pelagisch net uit te testen zodat het net bij de voglende campagnes optimaal kan ingezet worden. Zo slepen ze bijvoorbeeld het net verder achter het schip (uit het gewoel van het schroefwater) en kijken ze wat de effecten zijn van 's nachts vissen.
 Ze willen met het pelagisch net 4 doelen bereiken:
 - Vissen aan de oppervlakte om de pelagische vissen (sprot, haring, zandspiering(?) te kwantificeren die door sternen/visdieven opgedoken worden, dus vooral in de ondiepe kustzone en eerder langs de oostkant rond Zeebrugge
 - Vissen iets dieper in de waterkolom (een paar meter onder het wateroppervlak) om de pelagische vissen te kwantificeren die door Jan van Genten en andere zeevogels opgedoken worden, dus vooral iets verder offshore.
 - Nagaan of er nu werkelijk zoveel verschil is tussen dag/nacht wat betreft pelagisch vissen.
