Description 2014.04.23 Tijdens de zonnige staalname van het B-FishConnect project werd deze merkwaardige vis gevangen: de adderzeenaald of Entelurus aequoreus. Deze vis behoort tot de familie van de zeepaardjes. Ze hebben een uitwendig skelet, bestaande uit beenplaten, die bijna ringen vormen. Adderzeenaalden leven vaak tussen bruinwieren en zeegrasvelden, maar kunnen ook op volle zee worden aangetroffen. Ze zijn vrij eenvoudig van andere soorten zeenaalden te onderscheiden (zoals de grote en kleine zeenaald) door hun veel beweeglijker slangachtige lichaam, de lichte kleur met de opvallende blauw iriserende streepjes op de flanken en de rode lengtestreep op de neus. Net zoals bij de zeepaardjes legt het vrouwtje gedurende het paaiseizoen eitjes in de broedbuidel van verschillende mannetjes. Zo zorgt ze voor een goede overlevingskans voor een deel van haar kroost. De vis op de foto’s is een mannetje van 50 cm.
