Definition of Biodestabilization:
Biological processes increasing potential for sediment erosion (by tidal currents, wave action, rainfall). Mechanisms involve increased roughening and loosening of the surface sediments as a result of feeding, burrowing, active bio-resuspension, enhanced turbulence and scouring around rigid biological structures.
