Diagnosis Original diagnosis by Sars (1865: 16): "Corpus subcylindricum, dorso fornicato, ventre subplano, ante medium paulo inflatum, posteriora versus sensim attenuatum, pallide flavum, segmentis 46—47. Lobus cephalicus labium semicirculatum, segmento buccali duplo latius, margine incrassato, saepe flexuoso, sulco exarato, in qvo tentacula maxime numerosa, comam magnam componentia, affixa sunt. — Anterior corporis pars e segmentis 18—19 composita, anticis brevissimis, posterioribus sensim longioribus (ultimis 1/2 fere latioribus qvam longis): primo (segmento buccali) nudo, ceteris 17—18 tuberculis utrinqve monostichis minutis, mammilliformibus seu conicis, setas capillares gerentibus; toris uncinigeris nullis. Venter laevis, scuta ventralia parum distincta, media, angusta. — Posterior corporis pars e segmentis 28 composita, biannulis, anterioribus longioribus (parum latioribus qvam longis), posterioribus brevioribus, omnibus ultimo excepto utrinqve uncinos gerentibus minimos aviculares (breves, hamatos), seriem simplicem componentes, in toris haud prominentibus positos. Segmentum postremum dorso obliqve truncatum, ano dorsali, cirris analibus nullis." [details]
