Malacoceros jirkovi differs from other species of Malacoceros by having the notopodial postsetal lobes and the neuropodial lobes on setiger 1 strongly acute, by the narrow notopodial fascicles, by the large angle (about 60°) between notopodial bristles and horizontal flat, by free branchiae on anterior setigers and by hooded hooks with 3 teeth in crown.
