Description Colonies microscopic, spherical or ellipsoidal, sometimes compound, to 80 μm in diameter, with cells disposed sparsely in young and densely in old colonies. Mucilaginous envelopes fine, diffluent, stalks thin, usually clearly visible without staining. Cells elliptical or obovoid, pale grey-blue or blue-green, without gas vesicles, (1.5?) 2-4 x 1.5-3.5 μm. [details]
