Etymology The specific epithet syllisetosus is composed by the name of the type genus of the family, Syllis, and the Latin adjective setosus, meaning 'bristly', and refers probably to the fact that the chaetae of the first three chaetigers are more similar to the ones present in the genus Syllis than in the subfamily Autolytinae.
