Etymology The authors state the species was named labronica "poiche e stata rinvenuta aneche nelle acque cli Livorno [since it was found in the waters of Livorno]. Labrone was a name used for Livorno at the time of Cicero & Julius Caesar. Thus the species name is geographic. The type locality is not named in the article but (fide Paxton & Akesson, 2007 citing Bacci et al 1979) the laboratory culture came from Livorno. [details]
Neotype Neotype (SMNH 6422); complete female specimen, 2.8 mm long (preserved) for 16 chaetigers; cultured from specimens collected in the Bay of Naples(Mergellina harbour), Italy, 1965. [details]
