Etymology The specific epithet convoluta is the feminine of the Latin word convolutus, meaning 'coiled' or 'interlaced', and refers to the behaviour described by Webster & Benedict (1884: 710): "This species throws itself quickly into a coil, very much as is the habit of Glycera (Rhynchobolus)".
