Abstract
The objective of the IODE/JCOMM Ocean Data Portal (ODP) is to facilitate and to promote the exchange and dissemination of marine data and services. The ODP provides the full range of processes including data discovery, evaluation and access, and delivers a standards-based infrastructure that provides integration of marine data and information across the NODC network. The ODP development has two stages: Version 1 (V1) and Version 2 (V2). The ODP V1 is based on the E2EDMP technology developed by IODE/JCOMM Expert Team for Data Management Practices (ETDMP). The ODP V2 will br based on interoperability ISO/OGC standards and tools. The ODP V1 implements the following functions: communication with data sources, discovery, visualization, content management and administration. A strong emphasis will be placed on adjustment of the ODP V1 interaction with data providers. The ODP web site is available at www.oceandataportal.org. This site provides background information on the project, software, documentaion and training materials in addition to users on how to use ODP and how to become ODP data providers. The ODP user application is available at http://www.oceandataportal.net
