Abstract
The history of Upper Devonian to Lower Carboniferous conodont biostratigraphy and ecostratigraphy is briefly reviewed with special emphasis on application to the Belgian shelf environments.During the past decade several conodont biofacies models have been proposed which are successfully applied to Upper Devonian and Lower Carboniferous deposits in the Western United States and in Northwestern Europe.
