Abstract
This document was drawn up by a working group and based upon forecasting considerations concerning the Atlantic seaboard. Within can be found a summary of different issues affecting the coastline: inputs, estuaries, green tides, spreading species, wetlands, state of biological resources, sand and gravel as well as hydrocarbon extraction, development consequences, coastline evolution, littoral landscapes, large-size debris. This report summarizes coastline monitoring as well: the marine national monitoring network, microbiological surveillance of beaches and zones of shellfish production, phytoplankton monitoring, shellfish growth. Lastly, this document discusses proposed actions for the improvement of water quality by the Water Agencies of Loire-Bretagne and Adour-Garonne and proposes points for reflection concerning coastline protections.
