Abstract
The monitoring networks for the environment quality on the French coastline are numerous and varied. They concern many actors (Ifremer, DDASS, CQEL, Agencies), parameters (microbiology, phytoplankton, chemistry, biology), compartments (water, sediment, living matter), zonings (Quadrige, Sdage, bathing waters) and are well distributed on all the coastline. The present document makes the result of the actual monitoring, sets the different networks and existing zonings on a group of colour maps and puts the accent on the necessity of an optimization and a coordination of networks which are concerned by the development of a geographical reference work recognized by all the actors and based on a future geographical information system. Recommendations complete this document and should serve guide to the development of a future Leading Plan of the coastal environment monitoring.
