Type locality Kristian Fauchald 2013 notes: "Polynoe asperrima was described by Michael Sars from Herloe and Manger (syntypes, C3154a Oslo) The two localities represent two different fjords just north of Bergen, and M Sars was a minister at Manger with responsibilities also at Herdla (as the place is called now) . The two fjords Mangerfjord and Herdlafjord, are fingers off the large fjord that goes by Bergen (usually called Byfjord at that point)and then turns west and joins the Hjeltefjord, which paralells Herdlanfjord and Mangerfjord and opens up to the north well north of Bergen. I am here tracking the deepwater channel, 200 fathoms -about 400 m deep, including the two fingers, both Manger and Herdlafjords open up to the north into Hjeltefjord, but that is a pair of shallow channels (10-50 fathoms). So considering the two as syntypes is not bad. " [details]
