Taxonomy The name Nassa semistriata / Nassarius semistriatus has been misapplied during much of the 19th and 20th century to several Recent species from the North-East Atlantic and Mediterranean. The true Nassarius semistriatus (Brocchi, 1814), described from the Pliocene of Italy, is strictly fossil. [P. Bouchet, 28 April 2011] [details]
