Status Salazar-Vallejo (1986) proposed suppression of the family Antonbruunidae Fauchald, 1977, and kept the only species within Pilargidae. The cladistic analysis of Glasby (1993) also put Antonbruunidae within Pilargidae. Other contemporary and later authors compared Antonbruunidae with Nautiliniellidae rather than Pilargidae, not least for the similar commensalisms, but it could be morphological convergences rather than affinities are demonstrated in this pairing. Molecular work of Mackie et al. (2015) also indicated the apparent convergence with the former Nautiliniellidae (genera now in Calamyzinae in Chrysopetalidae) is more likely due to similar inquiline lifestyle, and that Antonbruunia appears to be a sister to Pilargidae genera Ancistrosyllis and Sigambra as originally seemed possible. [details]

Spelling Antonbruunidae (single 'i'). Also there are some lapsus occurrences of the spelling as 'Antonbrunnidae', but it seems these were accidental in papers in which the correct spelling was also used. [details]
